A Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the Sri Lanka Air Force, engaged in ongoing disaster relief operations, crashed this afternoon (30) in the Lunuwila area of Wennappuwa.
According to initial reports, the aircraft went down over Gin Oya while carrying out its relief mission. Several individuals on board the helicopter are reported to have sustained injuries in the accident.
Further investigations are underway, and emergency teams have been dispatched to the scene.
It was reported that all crew members who were abord the helicopter was rescued and admitted to the hospital.
