Smartwings Launches Winter Charter Flights from Poland to Sri Lanka

The first winter-season charter flight from Poland by Smartwings arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport on the night of 23 December, marking the start of weekly charter services to Sri Lanka.
The Boeing 737 aircraft landed from Warsaw carrying 180 passengers and nine crew members. The inaugural service was welcomed with a water cannon salute organized by Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd, followed by a traditional Kandyan dance performance arranged by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
The weekly charter flights will operate every Tuesday until 15 March 2026, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s winter tourism connectivity with the European market.
