Silver Airways Closes Operations, Disrupting U.S. – Caribbean Travel

Silver Airways, the Florida-based regional turboprop carrier, has permanently ceased all operations as of 11th June 2025, after selling its assets to an undisclosed buyer. The shutdown abruptly disrupts its network connecting Florida with Caribbean destinations, including the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Turks & Caicos.

The airline’s fleet at the time of closure comprised 8 aircraft, three ATR 42‑600s (46 seats) and five ATR 72‑600s (70 seats). This termination follows a turbulent period marked by a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in December 2024, mounting debts, grounded planes and the suspension of numerous routes like Orlando and Dominica.

For travelers, this means potentially cancelled flights, stranded passengers, and limited airline options on smaller regional routes.
