The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation said the proposal to lease operations of the Mattala International Airport to two Indian and Russian companies has been directed to the Cabinet.
Ministry Secretary K.D.S. Ruwanchandra said further measures will be taken in this regard following Cabinet approval.
Based on the proposal, operations of the Mattala International Airport will be carried out by the two relevant companies, and the Sri Lankan government will receive a portion of the income.
The Ministry Secretary said the companies will also be allowed to hire additional staff, apart from the personnel currently working at the airport. (News First)
