The selection process for the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SriLankan Airlines has now reached its final stage, according to Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilaka.
Speaking during a programme on Swarnavahini, the Minister stated that several rounds of evaluations and tests had already been conducted for multiple groups of candidates and only a few shortlisted individuals now remain in contention for the top post.
“A new CEO will soon be selected from among the shortlisted candidates,” the Minister said.
He also revealed that discussions regarding the appointment of a new Chairman for SriLankan Airlines are progressing positively. While several names had previously been proposed for the position, those recommendations could not be considered due to various reasons.
However, Minister Karunathilaka noted that a strong new proposal has now emerged and expressed confidence that a new Chairman would join SriLankan Airlines within the next one or two weeks.
