Japanese Ambassador Visits BIA, Highlights Development Plans

Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Akio Isomata, visited Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to discuss infrastructure upgrades with AASL Chairman Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema (Rtd.).

The ambassador toured the BIA Terminal 2 construction site, set to commence in mid-2025, and reviewed equipment donated by the IOM, funded by Japan, including a USD 100,000 ambulance and a digital signage system. He reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s airport development and strengthening bilateral relations.
