International Pilots’ Day is being celebrated worldwide today (April 26), recognizing the dedication, professionalism and contribution of pilots to global aviation. The date marks the historic first flight of Mehmet Fesa Evrensev in 1912, a significant milestone in early aviation history.

The day was officially established by the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA), which represents more than 140,000 pilots around the world, with the first formal celebration held in 2014.

International Pilots’ Day serves as a tribute to the vital role pilots play in ensuring safe and efficient air travel, while connecting people, cultures, and economies across the globe. It also highlights their continued commitment to safety and excellence in an ever-evolving aviation industry.
