The Srilankan government grants contracts to 9 international airports inorder to supply aviation fuel for Srilankan aircrafts. According to the Cabinet Spokesperson, Minister Bandula Gunawardena, bids have been provisioned by 11 aircraft fuel supplying companies. Karachi airport has been granted one bid and the other 8 airports have been granted 2 or more bids. This announcement was made during the press briefing for Cabinet Decisions on Tuesday (12).
Moreover, the cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the minister of Ports, shipping and Aviation services to grant the said contracts to the bidders who placed minimum quotations as per the recommendations of the standing procurement committee appointed by the cabinet. The contracts received by Bangkok, Beijing, Dubai, Karachi, Male and Riyadh airports will be expired on February, 29 2024.
Meanwhile, contracts received by Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur airports will expire on March, 31, 2024. Dammam Airport’s contract will be expired by the end of this year. Moreover, a direct contract was granted to the MCRA (Modern Consortium for Refuelling Aircraft Co Ltd.) A company which belongs to Saudi Arabia.
