Sri Lanka marked a significant milestone in engineering and aviation education with the country’s first-ever Inter-University RC Model Aircraft Competition, held alongside the ReXtro 2025 Engineering Exhibition at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna.
Rylee’s Aero Models participated as the Knowledge Partner and served on the judging panel, supporting student innovation and hands-on aeronautical learning. The event was organized by the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society – University of Ruhuna, bringing together some of the nation’s most promising young engineers.
Sir John Kotelawala Defence University dominated the competition by securing both Champion and Runner-Up positions, while NSBM Green University earned third place after an impressive performance despite technical challenges.
Beyond rankings, the competition stood out for its spirit of resilience, teamwork, and collaboration, as students rebuilt, adapted and returned stronger, highlighting the true essence of engineering education. The event is widely seen as a major step forward in nurturing Sri Lanka’s next generation of aviation and engineering innovators.
