Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, announced the government’s renewed focus on developing the Batticaloa Airport, which is currently operating at a loss.
During an observation tour on April 5, the Deputy Minister reviewed future development plans presented by the airport administration and emphasized the need for a proper feasibility study. He also instructed officials to fast-track the proposed upgrades.
In a visit to the surrounding community, the Deputy Minister assured residents that longstanding road issues near the airport would be addressed promptly.
