Dr. Rosh Jalagge, a Sri Lankan businessman and owner of a Gulfstream G-V long-range business jet, recently arrived in Sri Lanka through Colombo Int’l Airport Ratmalana (CIAR).
A former student of S. Thomas’ College, Dr. Jalagge is a prominent Sri Lankan businessman with extensive interests in Australia’s healthcare sector. He is associated with the Roshana Care Group and has also served as the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Western Australia for more than a decade.
Gulfstream G-V
The Gulfstream G-V is a long-range business jet developed by Gulfstream Aerospace and introduced into service in 1997. The aircraft can fly at an altitude of approximately 51,000 feet and has a range of around 12,000 kilometres, depending on configuration and operating conditions. Aviation Voice
The aircraft can typically accommodate 14-16 passengers in a comfortable executive configuration, with seating for up to 19 passengers depending on the interior layout.
A look back at Sri Lanka’s private jet history
Sri Lankan businessman Upali Wijewardene is widely regarded as one of the earliest and best-documented Sri Lankans to operate a private business jet. During the 1980s, he used a Learjet 35A, a significantly smaller aircraft compared with Gulfstream G-V.
The Learjet 35A has a range of approximately 4,000 kilometres, while the Gulfstream G-V can cover nearly three times that distance, making it a true long-range business jet.
Meanwhile, prominent Sri Lankan businessman Dudley Sirisena told Aviation Voice during his visit to the Singapore Airshow in February 2026 that he was also interested in acquiring a private jet.
