Colombo Air Symposium 2025 by SLAF to Be Held from February 10-11 at BMICH

The seventh edition of the Colombo Air Symposium 2025, organised by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), will take place on 10 and 11 February, at the BMICH in Colombo.

This prestigious international forum will bring together a diverse group of intellectuals, diplomats, military leaders, policymakers, and technological experts to explore the evolving role of air and space power in global security.

Under the leadership of Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, Air Force Commander, this year’s symposium is themed ‘Transforming Air and Space Power for a Resilient Tomorrow: Prospects for Air Forces of the Indian Ocean Rim’.

It aims to provide a platform for examining the strategic and technological advancements that are shaping the future of Air Forces in the region.

The event will be graced by the Chief Guest, Major General (Retd) K.P. Aruna Jayasekara, Deputy Minister of Defence, while the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Brian W. Cole Ph.D., Eisenhower School, National Defence University, Washington, D.C.

This symposium will see participation from delegates representing the Air Forces of the ‘Indian Ocean Rim Association’ member countries, along with distinguished foreign research authors and high-ranking officers from Sri Lanka’s Tri-Forces.

The symposium will delve into a variety of critical topics through five key sub-themes as; “strategic regional security dynamics, air and space power in technological advancement, exploring the frontier, Partnerships for Collective Strength, air and space power for blue economy advancement.”

This year’s symposium aims to strengthen regional cooperation and foster strategic partnerships, advancing the collective security of the Indian Ocean Region.

The symposium will address critical areas such as policy development, technological innovation, and military strategy to shape a resilient, future-ready air power framework for the region and beyond.
