Civil Aviation Authority urges drone operators to avoid emergency zones

The Director General of Civil Aviation has advised all drone operators, both commercial and recreational, to refrain from flying drones in areas where helicopter operations are underway. This warning comes amid ongoing search, rescue, and relief operations in regions affected by recent disasters.

Drone operators involved in search and rescue (SAR) or other aerial activities are reminded to always yield to manned aircraft to ensure the safety and efficiency of emergency flight operations.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka said that cooperation from all drone operators is crucial at this time to support national emergency efforts and maintain the safety of the country’s airspace.
