CAASL Enhances Sri Lanka’s Search and Rescue Readiness

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has taken significant steps to strengthen the country’s preparedness for aviation-related emergencies through enhanced search and rescue (SAR) capabilities. A Joint Search and Rescue Workshop was held today (3rd November 2025) at the CAASL Auditorium, with a large-scale Tabletop Exercise (TTX SAREX) scheduled for 6th November, marking a first-of-its-kind event in Sri Lanka’s aviation history.

The initiative, organized under the leadership of CAASL’s top management, brings together over 20 national agencies, including the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, Police, Disaster Management Centre, Airport and Aviation Services, and the Department of Meteorology. This collaborative effort underscores Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to aviation safety and its readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergencies within the country’s Search and Rescue Region.
