In response to the escalating flooding around the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) airfield, the Technical Staff of the Electronics and Air Navigation Engineering Division proactively removed four Localizer units, vital components used for aircraft landing guidance, as a precautionary measure.
This timely action protected equipment worth several million dollars, preventing potential damage and ensuring the safety of critical navigation systems. The move not only safeguarded state assets but also delivered significant financial savings to Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Ltd.
