Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, during a news conference held at the Presidential Media Centre, themed ‘Collective Path to a Stable Country.’ on Saturday (09) said that the airport and airline industry achieved a profit of Rs. 26 billion, encompassing Ratmalana, Mattala, and Palali airports. He added that there was a 25% reduction in the losses at Mattala airport and a Rs. 12 million profit from Palali airport.
He attributed the aviation sector’s notable progress in Sri Lanka to President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s effective programs, fostering political and economic stability.
Underlining the success, the minister reported a significant influx of 6.6 million tourists to Sri Lanka this month.
