A private airline employee has been arrested for attempting to smuggle gold worth over Rs. 46 million, Customs stated.
The suspect was caught at Katunayake Airport while exiting through the airline staff channel.
Gold jewellery and biscuits weighing 1.163 kilograms were recovered from a travel bag.
Customs officials have launched further investigations.
