Retired Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda has assumed duties as the new Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (AASL).
He officially took over the position this morning at the AASL premises in Katunayake in the presence of Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodithilukku and Ministry Secretary W.W.S. Mangala.
Banagoda, the 26th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, brings over 36 years of experience in the Navy. He holds a Business Management degree and has received several military decorations, including the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP).
He is expected to lead AASL in further strengthening Sri Lanka’s airport safety, regulation and aviation development.
