Ceylon Aeronautical Services Makes History as Sri Lanka’s First Privately Owned MRO to Establish Operations in Africa

Ceylon Aeronautical Services (CAS) has made history by becoming Sri Lanka’s first privately owned Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider to establish aircraft maintenance operations in Africa.

The company has officially commenced line maintenance operations for Amazone Airlines in the Republic of Benin, West Africa, following approval from the Benin Civil Aviation Authority.

Under the partnership, CAS will provide line maintenance support for Amazone Airlines in Benin, while base maintenance services will be carried out at its main maintenance facility in Koggala, Sri Lanka.

The development marks a significant milestone in CAS’s international expansion, extending its aircraft maintenance capabilities beyond Sri Lanka and establishing a presence in the African aviation market.

Sampath Ranaweera, President of Ceylon Aeronautical Services, described the achievement as the result of years of dedication, investment in people and efforts to develop internationally competitive aviation engineering capabilities.

He noted that the milestone demonstrates the potential of Sri Lanka’s aviation maintenance industry to serve international customers, create opportunities for local aviation professionals and strengthen the country’s position as a regional MRO hub.

CAS also acknowledged the support of the Benin Civil Aviation Authority and Amazone Airlines, while recognising the contribution of its team in making the international expansion possible.
