Turkish Airlines joined hands with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Romania to promote Sri Lanka as a tourist destination during a tourism roadshow held in Bucharest on 18 May 2026.
Addressing the event, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Romania Samantha Pathirana stated that Sri Lanka is currently one of Asia’s fastest-growing tourist destinations, welcoming a record 2.3 million tourists in 2025 and generating US$ 3.2 billion in tourism revenue. He also highlighted the strong potential of the Romanian travel market and expressed confidence in increasing tourist arrivals from Romania in the coming years.
The event brought together 40 Romanian travel companies and 08 Sri Lankan travel companies, while Turkish Airlines Romania Manager Hakki Gunte addressed the gathering, highlighting the airline’s continued support for strengthening tourism links between Sri Lanka and Romania.
