Vietjet Air to Launch Direct Colombo – Ho Chi Minh City Flights from August 2026

Vietnamese new-age hybrid carrier Vietjet Air has officially announced its first direct flight service connecting Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City during the Sri Lanka – Vietnam Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation Forum held in Colombo last week.

The announcement was made in the presence of Vietnam’s President To Lam, Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and senior officials from both countries.

Expected to commence operations in August 2026, the new route will operate four weekly round-trip flights between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City, further strengthening tourism, trade and investment ties between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The new service is also expected to boost Sri Lanka’s growing tourism sector while offering local travelers affordable connections to key Asia-Pacific destinations including Australia, Japan, South Korea, and China through Vietjet’s expanding international network.

Vietjet Air currently operates a fleet of 135 aircraft and has nearly 600 additional aircraft on order to support its future international expansion.
