Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has recorded strong growth in early 2026, with foreign tourist arrivals surpassing the 300,000 mark within the first few weeks of the year.
According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, a total of 317,381 tourists visited the country between January 1 and February 4.
Tourism earnings rose to USD 378.3 million in January 2026, up from USD 308.6 million in December 2025, reflecting stronger visitor spending at the start of the year.
This positive trend highlights the continued recovery and growing confidence in Sri Lanka as a preferred travel destination.
