Sri Lanka Strengthens Aviation Ties with ICAO at Regional Meeting in Bangkok

Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Ports & Civil Aviation, Eng. Janith Ruwan Kodituwakku, and Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, met with Mr. Tao Ma, Regional Director of ICAO Asia-Pacific, during the 27th COSCAP-SA SARAST Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand from 5-6 November 2025.

The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration in aviation safety, security, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure development. ICAO assured continued technical and capacity-building support for Sri Lanka’s aviation initiatives. Mr. Tao Ma commended Sri Lanka’s active role and contributions within the Asia-Pacific region.

Capt. Rambukwella, in his capacity as Chairman of COSCAP-SA, also held productive discussions with the Australian delegation and ICAO’s Aviation Security team. Her Excellency Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Thailand, was also present at the meeting.
