ICAO Secretary General Praises Sri Lanka’s Active Role in Global Aviation Affairs – CAASL

The Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, has commended Sri Lanka’s valuable contribution as an active ICAO Member State during a meeting with Eng. Janith Ruwan Kodituwakku, Deputy Minister of Ports & Civil Aviation, and Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation & CEO, held at the ICAO Headquarters in Montreal during the 42nd ICAO Assembly.
 
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and ICAO, enhancing aviation safety, security, and environmental sustainability, and improving global air connectivity.
 
Key points included Sri Lanka’s plan to appoint a voluntary Ambassador to represent the country at ICAO HQ, establish a permanent office in Montreal, and contest for a seat on the ICAO Council at the next election.
 
The Secretary General expressed full support for Sri Lanka’s future initiatives and officially handed over ICAO’s Strategic Action Plan to the Deputy Minister during the meeting.
