Sri Lanka’s tourism industry continues to demonstrate robust recovery, recording a 28.2% year-on-year growth in the first week of September 2025.
According to official figures, the country welcomed 37,495 international visitors during the first seven days of the month, propelling total arrivals for the year past the 1.6 million milestone.
The growth is largely fueled by a steady influx of tourists from neighboring India, which remains the top source market for Sri Lanka. Industry experts note that sustained momentum from the Indian market is playing a pivotal role in the island’s tourism resurgence, reinforcing its position as a key driver of post-pandemic recovery.
