Sri Lanka’s Minister of Highways, Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation, Mr. Bimal Rathnayake, met with Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), during the Global Aviation and Maritime Symposium held in Singapore from 13 to 15 July 2025.
The high-level meeting focused on advancing Sri Lanka’s aviation sector, with Minister Rathnayake reaffirming the country’s commitment to strengthening its Civil Aviation Master Plan. Key areas discussed included technical cooperation for audit preparedness, digital transformation, and expanded training opportunities for aviation professionals.
Also present at the meeting was Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa, Acting Director General of Civil Aviation and CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, who joined the discussions on future collaboration with ICAO.
